Raleigh NC - 25th

Well now its the 25th, maybe 26th by now, and have been here in North Carolina for the past 2 days. We've been staying with my dads cousin Andrea and her family in a really nice, green, desperate housewivesesque neighbourhood.

On the 23rd (what day is it?) we were shown around the city by a distant relative named Tony and ate Lebanese for lunch. Today we went to a big mall and i had a hamburger for lunch! hooray! Tomorrow we're off to Charlotte.

Houston in 6 Hours

We landed in "Bush" airport or something at around 10am and were met by my Aunt and Uncle. Firstly we went downtown and then had a look around some of the real nice houses near the city center. We then went to a fancy mall called 'The Galleria' that had an (!) in the centre of it.
There was also an Escalade in there for a raffle or something and those things are SO big when you really see them. I also saw this. Who eats 50 nuggets? How many people are needed to eat 50 nuggets? Anyways, soon after we had to get back on the plane in the rain and we flew to Raleigh North Carolina.

Mexico in a flash

I haven't done anything here for a while because i've been in mexico and yeah. So ill just fill the last week in with lots of photos and some brief descriptions of whats been happening. enjoy.

We took the car back and hopped on a plane from Las Vegas and flew to Guadalajara, Mexico.
Where we caught a bus to Colima. They give us a "Snack Pack" on the bus and we arrived in Colima 4 hours later after getting stuck in trafic leaving Guadalajara. We got picked up from the bus station and went back to the house of our family friends with whom we were staying. Throughout the week we saw the rest of the extended family and did some things around the town.

I didn't like this coconut drink.

We went to the beach for lunch one day.

And had slow... fried? pork for brunch that we got from a small town outside of Colima. I also bought some orange and carrot juice from the juice lady. We went to our friends' country house for lunch where the father Carlos kept some really cool birds. We were also going to go kneeboarding on the lake but couldnt in the end because it was too low. Anyways that afternoon we had to go back to Guadalajara for the night. On our way back that afternoon we saw this!

I'm undecided as to whether it's a dove or an Angel but it's pretty cool nonetheless. We got into Guadalajara that evening and got some sleep in the hotel before we had to get up at 3 to fly to Housten.

Monday night - South Strip

Went out to dinner at New York, New York and here are the photos from the south end of the strip.

The MGM Grand

New York, New York

The Strip

The Luxor

By the way i had a Philly cheese steak sandwich for dinner and a banana split for dessert.

Monday the 16th - The Grand Canyon

Hi all. This morning we left in our rental car for the grand canyon and had breakfast at a diner in Boulder Nevada. We crossed the Hoover dam soon after and stopped to have a look.

Dam face
(That's the best i could do - there was buildings and stuff)
There was also little things!

Squirrels?
Anyways we kept going into Arizona and out to the west rim of the canyon in an Indian reserve.
It's pretty amazing - 4000 feet high at the lesser western rim - and me and my dad did the 'skywalk' thing which was pretty cool. You walk out over the canyon on a glass floor.

It's a LOT bigger than it looks. A boat went by on the river below - we couldn't see the boat, just the wake. What a face!
We then watched an Indian dancer who was really nice and really good!

Happy times!
My tasty Indian lunch
And that was about it for the canyon. Although there was something for Kirsten and Justin.

Sunday night - The Strip

Well yes, on sunday night we explored the strip!

All the casinos were lit up all fancy with the Bellagio and it's fancy fountain show

And The Mirage and it's erupting volcano.

As well as fire it spewed up water and I managed to catch the fire at the right moment too.
The rest of the casinos looked pretty flash too and there was even a Tiffany's store for Kirsten.
Later that night after dinner we saw Mystere. It was really awesome and a lot better than i expected with some amazing acrobatics and strength, not to mention it was pretty funny. On the way back to the hotel we passed by the Arc De Triomphe and under the Eiffel Tower.

Sunday Afternoon - 'Auto Collections'

Me and my dad went to 'The Auto Collections' in The Imperial Palace and saw a tonne of cool cars. Some for KIRstEN, some for Jono and the rest for me me me me me me. And this thing was actually touching the ground!

And i don't apologise for blurry photos ever because thats the way the camera took them. Nothing to do with me.

Sunday Afternoon the 14th

Well i woke up real late today and soon after we went out for a wander around the Paris casino where we parked.

As you can see the casino is modelled all France like with the tower and everything

And yet another 'outdoor' themed mall and more rich people. The sidewalks were covered with tourists, old men with young women and mexicans handing out pamphlets of a questionable nature.

Theres just too much walking.
We explored a bit more before finding Planet Hollywood where we had lunch. They even had something for Eddy.

Saturday Night

Not too exciting really. We walked up the street past a few hotels

To the Planet Hollywood casino where we found our way into this mall type thing.

All indoors and all ridiculous.

As we were walking by, a 'thunder storm' came through with rain coming down from the ceiling (on to the water only) as well as the appropriate thunder and lightning. After looking around we had dinner at a Hawaiian burger bar and then went for a walk into the casino. There are no photos in there though because apparently thats a no no.
And now im all up to date and off to bed. Sorry about the pictures if your on dial up but seriously, upgrade to ADSL, it's the way of the future. Hopefully more exploration and photos tomorrow.

Saturday - off to Vegas

After our late wake up and tasty breakfast

We got our super cool Pontiac rental car and started off to Las Vegas.

After driving through the super interesting desert for a few hours we stopped off at an outlet mall in the middle of nowhere for lunch and some shopping.

The desert is very windy.

Later that afternoon we arrived at our hotel in Las Vegas

And took the place in

!!!

Friday night - Clippers vs Blazers

Yes we left the hotel again at around 7, crossed the street (past the scalpers) to the Staples center, said hi to magic as he directed us to will call where we collected our tickets and headed inside.

After finding our way up and up and up to our seats we settled down and waited for the game to begin.

The teams had a shoot around for a few minutes then some girl sung the national anthem and we tipped off!

Admittedly it was a pretty average game with the blazers hanging on for a while but the clippers pulled away in the 3rd and 4th, winning 107 - 89, but it was fun nonethless. Elton Brand is a lot faster than you think and Cuttino Mobley had a very nice dunk in the 4th quarter.

Goodnight

Friday afternoon and evening

Well yes we arrived at one of the hollywood stations and made our way up the stairs and through the cool themed hall. The roof is covered with little recording tapes.

We came up into the sunny and dry hollywood and made our way towards the theatres passing by this coooooool ad.

As we got closer to the theatres the shops and crowds got bigger (damn tourists) and there were heaps of buskers like this handsome fellow who managed to get himself out of a strait-jacket.

There were also a whole bunch of actors dressed as disney and other characters roaming the area and entertaining people.

Also, Michael Jackson had two stars on the floor. We found our way to Graumans Chinese Theatre

And checked out the concrete prints outside.

There were also quite a few guys wondering around trying to sell you their amatuer rap cd's and letting you listen on their discmans. Aswell as this cool little post box.

Then we got back on the train and headed back to the hotel at around 6:30.

I'm in - America

And the airport is covered in pictures of George Bush and Dick Cheney, interesting. We flew out of Sydney down to Melbourne yesterday (we go by my time) morning and changed onto a 747 a left for LA. The flight was made easier by the cool entertainment Qantas has but it was still a 15 hour flight. We arrived at LAX at around 8am or something and then caught a cab to our hotel near the Staples center (Lakers and Clippers home Stadium) .

This is the cool mural across the street. We had to wait a while til our room was ready then we went up and slept for a while. The end of the morning.

We woke at like 1 and headed out to Hollywood by metro train.

These things are way better than city rail.
Bed time!
